In Support of Adults Surviving Child Abuse

Story

Those who know me understand that 2015 was a huge year in setting & meeting my personal fitness goals. As a result I have decided to challenge myself further this July, by running in the 2016 Stadium Stomp, while fundraising for the Blue Knot Foundation.

As a survivor of sexual violence, I've been a member now of the Blue Knot Foundation for over 10 years. During this time, the Blue Knot Foundation has provided me with extremely valuable resources that have all contributed greatly towards my quest for healing. It was this support that allowed me the space & knowledge to overcome my greatest personal challenges.

Although healing remains an ongoing process, my driving force has always been a strong desire to light the way for survivors still in search of their own voice. I firmly believe that of all the resources we possess, our voice is our most important asset & remains the key to unlocking our potential. Too many of those who have suffered sexual violence struggle see a future without darkness, fear or shame. As a result, my greatest ambition is to show people that healing from abuse & thriving within your own life is entirely possible.

It is my hope that in raising money for the Blue Knot Foundation, that I might be able to shed a small amount of light on a charity that over the years has meant to great deal to me & who's work continues to inspire our community.

On 17th July I plan to complete the 2016 Stadium Stomp; a challenge to climb all 6,300 stairs within the SCG & Sydney Football Stadium. While I expect it to be a physically challenging goal, I know that as a survivor, I have the capacity & resources to overcome any of life's challenges with determination, focus & drive.

For those who don't know me personally, I'm 33 & work as an International Flight Attendant with a strong passion for travel, photography & fitness. I've traveled to over 50 countries & live in Sydney with my best friend who will run alongside me on the day.

I would be extremely grateful if you could take the time to show your support for the Blue Knot Foundation by making a secure donation. I would also really appreciate it if you could share the details of my run & link to the donation page, so that I can hopefully reach as many people as possible.

Thanks again for your support.

Blue Knot Foundation - National Centre of Excellence for Complex Trauma

Blue Knot Foundation - National Centre of Excellence for Complex Trauma, is the leading national organisation working to improve the lives of 1 in 4 adult Australians (five million) who have experienced childhood trauma. Many struggle day to day with their self-esteem, relationships, mental and physical health and numerous aspects of everyday life. Trauma in childhood does not only affect those who have experienced it. It affects their family, including their children and their communities.

Blue Knot Foundation provides that help through short-term phone counselling support, information, resources, tools and workshops for survivors and their friends, families, partners and loved ones. We also provide professional development training, supervision, consultancy and other services to practitioners, organisations and diverse personnel who work with survivors, across sectors. To learn more, visit our website at www.blueknot.org.au.

Start fundraising today and help us to help Australian adult survivors of childhood trauma recover.

  • Here is how your funds will make a difference:
